Guests have their own dedicated living room on the first floor along with all the guests’ bedrooms. There are large comfy sofas and nests of tables just handy for your teacup or wine glass. Tea is served here for guests arriving between 4-6pm usually with the home baking of the day. Calming decor with the emphasis on relaxation and original artwork.
There are stunning 270 degree views of mountains, loch, Island and waterfalls from the large picture windows. On clear days it is possible to see the mountains on Harris in the Outer Hebrides. We have some of the best sunset views in the village, un-obscured by Shieldaig Island. In mid summer the sun sets in the opening of the Loch Torridon to the sea with a midnight sun.
Currently 2 white tailed sea eagles are visiting the area which we watch from the living room along with heron, cormorants and oyster catchers. We have bird feeders in garden to encourage small bird species and maintain habitat for them. A pair of swallows have built a nest for the first time in the gable end. Seals can be seen occasionally from this high vantage point basking on the rocks at low tide, using the binoculars or monocular. We keep a selection of reference books for birds & flowers to check on unfamiliar Scottish species.
There is a large TV with satellite for lazier days along with a selection of DVD's for your convenience. Whilst we have a cat he is not allowed to spend time upstairs as we are only too aware of allergies.
Books & maps are to hand on local walks, along with any amount of help and advice we can give you. We have a local mountain guide living close by.
Wifi is present throughout the house and we have added a small computer to the upstairs hallway area where guests can easily access broadband and email. This area also houses the fridge for guests kept topped up with fresh milk.
