We have stayed in many different styles of accommodation all over the world and base what we do here on the best of our experiences. Bed and Breakfast after all is about really comfortable beds and a satisfying tasty breakfast!

Before we ran the bed and breakfast we didn't really have a great understanding of the various rating systems and would have been nervous of approaching 4 star accommodation. What we now know is that the RAC, AA and UK tourist authorities (Visit Britain, Visit Scotland and Visit Wales) have a set of common quality standards. These common standards make accommodation easier to understand & find the level of standards you require.

To that end we joined the Visit Scotland Tourist Board quality assurance scheme. Every aspect of the welcome, food, cleanliness and accommodation is marked out of 5 in each of over 40 categories. One has to achieve an overall score of between 70 - 84% to qualify for a 4 Star award, with no area falling below par.

We were extremely pleased to be awarded a 4 star grade on our entry to the quality assurance scheme during 2007 with an overall score of 81%. This was done by an incognito inspector posing as guest to experience his stay from guests’ perspective.
