Evening Meals

Eating Out

There are a number of food options in the area, the Torridon Inn (closed winter), the Applecross Inn (open all year) or Potting shed, the Coastal Kitchen in the village (open all year), Kishorn seafood bar, Lochcarron - various choices, Kinlochewe Hotel (see links section). At the height of summer there are many award winning pubs & restaurants open. Seafood is a specialty of the area. You may find that food options tend to finish slightly earlier throughout the Highlands at around 8.30pm. From the end of October to Easter fewer places to eat are open.

Eating In

On Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays we can provide a 2 course evening meal at 7pm. The main course is the dish of the day, the second course is always a pud!.

Please let us know about meals required at the time of booking & no later than 2 weeks in advance of your stay.

Do be aware that there is no choice on the day, so communicate any restrictions well in advance. Bring your own wine or beer - we will even recycle your bottles & cans for you.

The advanced notice is so that we can:

Work around dietary issues. If we are feeding, for example 3 separate couples we may need to work a menu around 3 different dietary restrictions yet come up with a meal to suit everyone! Sometimes it just doesnít work & we may occasionally have to decline!

Be Greener. We also try and avoid waste so only order correct levels of supplies for each week. Sourcing good quality, local produce needs a degree of planning and last minute purchasing tends to lead to unnecessary journeys, increased food miles and cost.

We generally do not serve shellfish or offal as so many people are allergic or dislike. There are 3 options locally for excellent seafood (within 20 min drive).

Any specialist or unusual foods are generally not available in the village & the nearest large shopping area is Inverness - 130 mile round trip away! So any gluten free diets - please bring in your own supplies. Diabetics can you let us know how indulgent you are on holiday & whether you do eat the odd pud!

Vegetarians please let us know ahead of arrival just how strict you are! We have a reasonable selection of vegetarian main courses inspired by cooks such as Rose Elliott & Sarah Brown. If you are 1 vegetarian in a couple or group please let us know if the non-vegetarians will eat a vegetarian meal? We can then put all our energy into creating a great vegetarian dish of the day.
