Eating In
We are resuming evening meals on Tuesdays
& Fridays at 7pm from June 2011 (now that the elderly
parents' health many miles away is improved).
This a 2 course "dish of the day"
- main course & dessert which we create around any dietary
restrictions our guests may have. As we are catering for small
numbers we do not provide a choice. In our remote location
we get limited weekly supplies and prefer to know at the time
of your booking if you wish to have an evening meal. At the
latest please let us know a week in advance.
We have no alcohol licence so you are very
welcome to bring your own wine & beer. The shop in the
village does sell both, open until 5.30 pm most of the year,
until 7pm July & August.
Please let us know about any dietary restrictions
or intolerances in advance, along with any vegetarians in
your booking, so we can cater for them.
We try to source our food locally, ethically
and seasonally. Cook from scratch, with Thomas cooking the
main course & Ann creating the desserts.
So for example:
Fillet of Wester Ross Salmon
with new potatoes, organic carrots & home grown mange
tout.
Followed by Rich Lemon Tart.
Eating Out
There are a number of food options in the
area:
The Coastal Kitchen in Shieldaig
- about a 7 minute walk away - open all year.
The Torridon Inn - 10 minute
drive - closed winter
Applecross Inn - 40-50 minute
drive - open all year
Potting shed - Applecross -
closed winter
Kishorn seafood bar - 20 minute
drive - closed winter
Lochcarron - various choices
Kinlochewe Hotel - 30 minute
drive - open all year
At the height of summer there are many award
winning pubs & restaurants open. Seafood is a specialty
of the area. You may find that food options tend to finish
slightly earlier throughout the Highlands at around 8.30pm.
From the end of October to Easter fewer places to eat are
open.
