Being environmentally aware does not mean we compromise on comfort or the 4 star quality of our accommodation, quite the opposite. At Aurora we are committed to providing excellent quality, facilities and service for our guests whilst minimising the environmental impact of our business activities.
Many communities in the Highlands are dependant on tourism to survive, but that brings its own problems – population numbers quadrupling overnight and high tourist miles. If you choose to stay with us you are already making a positive step to reducing the carbon emissions associated with your holiday and will help to support the fragile local economy.
The actions of each and every one of us have an impact on the environment, so we like to encourage our guests to stay in this area a bit longer & use our central Wester Ross location as a very comfortable base. In this way we also hope to contribute to preserving the outstanding beauty of the area guests come to visit. Over 70% of the stays in 2009 at Aurora were for 3 or more nights.
We have bikes to hire, 7 days of suggested low carbon activities, walks & activity folders, 10 days of recommended activities along with just relaxing & books to read. We have plenty of recommendations for arts, crafts and eating locally.
The toolbars to the left allow you to explore what we have done & are working towards – this is very much an ongoing journey. When you are here there are some simple measures you can do – look at the top 15 tips to reduce your impact. The world’s resources are finite.
