Living Room

Guests have their own dedicated, first floor living room. Large comfy sofas and nests of tables are just handy for your teacup or wine glass - we even provide the glasses & corkscrew upstairs! The recent addition of a woodburning stove creates a really cosy room in cooler weather, without worrying too much about increasing our carbon footprint.

There are 270 degree views of mountains, loch, Shieldaig Island & out to sea from this room, whether sitting or standing. On clear days it is possible to see the mountains on Harris in the Outer Hebrides. We have some of the best sunset views in the village, un-obscured by Shieldaig Island. In June the sun sets in the sea-opening of Loch Torridon when it is still light at midnight.

Currently 3 white tailed sea eagles are visiting the area which we get glipmpses of most days. Seals can frequently be seen from this high vantage point, basking on the rocks at low tide from the living room - using the monoscope, along with heron, cormorants and oyster catchers - to name a few. We have bird feeders in garden to encourage small bird species and maintain habitat for them. Several pairs of house martins have built nests since the renovations - 1 pair in the gable above the living room. We keep a selection of reference books for birds & flowers to check on less familiar Scottish species.

There is a large, flat screen TV with satellite and DVD player, for lazier days along with a selection of DVD's. Whilst we have a cat he is not allowed to spend time upstairs as we are only too aware of allergies. Guests once checked in, have no restriction on entry & exit times.

Books & maps are to hand on local walks, along with any amount of help and advice we can give you. There are activities & walks folders upstairs & down. We have a local mountain guide living close by.

Tea is served to guests arriving between 4-6pm usually with the home baking of the day. Calm decor with an emphasis on relaxation, complemented with original artwork, mostly by local artists.

WiFi available throughout the house and we have added a small computer to the upstairs landing area where guests can easily access broadband and email. This area also houses the fridge for guests kept topped up with fresh milk, along with camomile, peppermint & green tea bags.
